Description

‘Of bodies changed to other forms I tell’

In AD 17, Publius Ovidius Naso, the Roman poet Ovid, died in exile in the Black Sea port of Tomis (now Constanta in Romania). Two thousand years later, editors and poets Nessa O’Mahony and Paul Munden have invited poets to respond to his most celebrated work, Metamorphoses, with poems that explore the many contemporary resonances in that seminal work. The anthology, Metamorphic: 21st century poets respond to Ovid, will be published in November 2017 by Recent Work Press, in association with the International Poetry Studies Institute at the University of Canberra.

Join contributors David Butler, Siobhán Campbell, Jane Clarke, Enda Coyle-Greene,Catherine Ann Cullen, Katie Donovan, Anne Fitzgerald, Mark Granier, Eleanor Hooker, Fred Johnston, Catherine Phil MacCarthy, Iggy McGovern, Mary O'Donnell, Maeve O’Sullivan, Nell Regan, Mark Roper, John W. Sexton, Peter Sirr, Grainne Tobin, Csilla Toldy, Jessica Traynor, Breda Wall Ryan, Grace Wells and Enda Wyley for the Dublin launch of the book. The evening will be MC’d by anthology co-editor, Nessa O’Mahony.
