Lean Construction Ireland invite you to attend its upcoming LCI Ireland Community Event, sponsored by Jones Engineering, at The Marker Hotel, Dublin, from 18:15-21:00 on Thursday 23rd February 2017.

Registration is required via the EventBrite link, so that we have accurate numbers for the night. Please print off your ticket(s) and bring them along on the evening.

THEME: People are our greatest assets. How can we maximize their potential?


Phillip Matthews - Former President, National College of Ireland & International Rugby Captain.

Phillip Matthews was President of the National College of Ireland in March 2010 until 2016. Prior to joining NCI, Phillip was responsible for establishing and directing the executive education centre at UCD Michael
Smurfit Graduate Business School. Before entering academia Phillip spent 20 years in industry between pharmaceuticals and consulting.

Phillip’s particular interest is in helping leaders to identify the leader they want to be, achieve clarity on the personal change required, to lead with authenticity and in a way that engages hearts and minds. Phillip has spoken extensively on Leadership, Empathic Leadership, Personal Change, and Immunity to Change and Coaching Skills for Leaders.

Jim Collins - Lean Trainer, Consultant Trainer & Guide

Jim holds a BSc in Manufacturing Technology (UL) & MBA (University of Edinburgh) and has over 25 years engineering & leadership experience across aerospace, medical, technology and consumer goods sectors. He was the Irish GM of Honeywell Aero-Engine part manufacturing from 1996 to 2005. He co-founded and was the 1st chair of South-East Lean Forum 2002.

He has designed & delivered numerous Problem Solving(PS) & Lean training courses in manufacturing, non- manufacturing & healthcare environments and he has facilitated, led & participated in over 40 Kaizen events in Irl, Eng, USA & Japan.

Jim currently works as Lean & PS tutor/lecturer on UL Postgrad & NUIG BSc & Quality Diploma programmes.He is a Lean Leadership training team member - IMDA NFQ L9 Management Programme and also a certified Lean Expert, Six Sigma Green Belt; Senior Member of ASQ.

Colm Sheils - Manufacturing Engineering Director

In Boston Scientific Galway, where he has responsibility for engineering in the six production unit where they manufacture a large range of
medical devices from Drug Eluting Stents to Heart Valves. Prior to Boston Scientific Colm worked in Tyco Electronics (Raychem) in Shannon where he held management roles in both Business Development and Research & Development.

Colm has an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, an MSc and an MBA and has a particular interest in the area of Operational Excellence. He is currently one of the key sponsors of Operational Excellence Program within Boston Scientific Galway. He has completed Shingo Institute Executive training in Utah University in 2014 and was an international business excellence assessor with EFQM in 2004 and 2005.

Rob Hughes - Geo-Survey Manager, Jones Engineering Group

Rob joined Jones Engineering in February 2013 to improve the M&E construction model through the implementation of various Geo-Survey techniques.

His responsibilities include the day to day management of JEG Geo- Survey Division - which supports all M&E construction within the group, and supplies customers with various high quality survey solutions. He continually researches new instrumentation and techniques to ensure that Jones Engineering and their clients benefit from potential improvements. Rob has overseen the integration of 3D Laser Scanning into the Jones Engineering portfolio – producing point cloud data for both design and validation purposes.

Kevin White - Division Manager, Jones Engineering Group

An LCI Ireland co-founder and Leadership Group member with over 25 years’ experience in the construction industry. A lean practitioner since 2003 specialising in Construction lean improvement, waste removal, BIM adoption & IPD.
