Event description

It’s Leading On … time again. Our annual weekend for youth theatre leaders is returning to NUI Maynooth for three days of making and devising theatre. All under the guidance of facilitator extraordinaire Antoinette Duffy.

Coming towards the end of the youth theatre year, the residential is the opportunity for youth theatre leaders to unwind, develop their practice and socialise with friends old and new.

All this, without the responsibility of looking after young people of their own.

Places sell out fast, so early and prompt booking is recommended.

Making & Devising Theatre

This year’s course will look at ways of generating material for making and devising theatre. The working methods will be ensemble based while focusing on the physical and visual elements of theatre and storytelling. A variety of source materials will be used to stimulate work that we will combine into short theatre pieces. Our work will also focus on group storytelling which is informed by the notion of chorus.

Expect to be physical, expect to create, expect to be active! The course content is informed by Antoinette’s extensive experience in devising and adaptation for stage and by her work with the MA in Theatre Practice, UCD/GSA.

Leaders of youth theatres affiliated to Youth Theatre Ireland and existing organisation and individual members of Youth Theatre Ireland will receive preference.
