About this event
The SIX BRICKS Programme supports development and executive functioning...
Introduction
SIX BRICKS, developed by Care for Education in partnership with the Lego® Foundation, is a programme of short simple exercises and activities, many of which only take a couple of minutes to do. They are not a curriculum but they are designed to support all areas of development in the curriculum. They help to wake up a child’s brain and get them moving, thinking and remembering.
Every child has a set of six bricks, one of each colour (Red, Yellow, Orange, Green, Light blue and Dark blue). The teacher or professional can then quickly and easily facilitate an activity at any time. Repetition brings about better organization of the brain and the secret of the success of these activities lies in their regular repetition which enables children to consolidate new knowledge. SIX BRICKS activities are in development all the time and there are now more than 1000 activities supporting different areas of development.
Taster Session
This taster session will give some background to the SIX BRICKS and a taste of some of the SIX BRICKS activities. The session will take place online on Zoom and a link will be sent to you after you sign up. For the best experience for everyone a laptop or PC will be required with cameras on.
Materials Needed
Participants will engage in some exploration of the bricks so it would be helpful to have some large DUPLO type bricks (2 x 4 studs) ideally in red, light blue, dark blue, green, orange and yellow....whatever you can get your hands on and a clothes peg.
Participants
The SIX BRICKS taster is suitable for professionals and parents new to the SIX BRICKS programme. SIX BRICKS activities are very versatile and can be adapted and scaled up or down depending on the age and stage of the children you are working with.
Many of the activities are also being successfully used with children with special educational needs, and adults in care e.g. with dementia/Alzheimer’s
Cost
This taster session is Free
