Liminal Routes: Collective Listening and Walking Sessions

About this event

Liminal Routes is a series of situated audio mixtapes that was launched in Bristol on 1st April, 2021. Valuing the communal bonds of the dancefloor the project was established as a means to: support club cultures, provide opportunities for new listening experiences and promote the work of DJs and artists while the city’s nightlife was on hold due to COVID-19.

Inviting DJ’s whose work contributes to generating the ‘scene’ by running club nights, record labels, contributing to radio stations or producing music – each artist created a mixtape for a walking route of their choice in the city, with an accompanying overview that reflects their selection and relationship to and with their local environs.

Now that restrictions have eased we invite you to join us for a Sunday stroll that takes you through the parks and streets of Eastville with the accompanying mix created by Sunun on Saturday 13th June at 13.00.

Taking in Eastville Park, Fishponds and Stapleton Road, Sunun creates a uniquely inspired mixtape that draws on her dub and soul foundations.

Gaining a steady reputation for her work, Sunun productions have been platformed by local labels Bokeh Versions, to Idle Hands. The Young Echo member chases the path to euphoria through her live sets, creating an atmospheric, heavyweight sound, derived straight from the love of sound system. Sunun’s Noods Radio show, Everything is a Drum, rooted in revolution rhythms, and late night Cosies Reggae Sunday sets alongside soul sister Reish Tafari, have been sending ripples through the city’s scene back when it was alive and allowed.
