Description

In spring 2020 South-East HSE project following the sucess in 2019, is organising another 5 programmes in South-East in the floowing areas: Kilkenny, Tullow/Carlow Town, Clonmel, Dungarvan/Waterford City, Gorey/Wexford Town.

At this stage you are just registring your intereset in the programme, when the course is set up you will be notified about it by the organiser and you can book your place.

Living with a long term health condition is your community-based programme which was originally developed at Stanford University.

This is a group programme (max 18 participants per group) that runs for 6 weeks. Each session lasts 2.5 hours. Each programme is facilitated by certified leaders.

The skills you will learn include:

  • Problem solving and decision making
  • How to set management goals
  • Managing your medication
  • Communicating effectively with your family, friends and healthcare team
  • Relaxation and managing stress
  • Healthy eating, weight management and appropriate exercise techniques
  • Managing pain, fatigue and difficult emotions

This programme is for adults 18 years and over. It is suitable for you if you are:

  • living with one or more long-term heath conditions
  • caring for someone with a long-term health condition, depression, intellectual dissability or dementia
  • feeling low, anxiouse, unhappy or depressed

Please note: The programme is not suitable for anyone with intellectual impairment or with advanced dementia.
