Is your business eligible to apply for LEADER funding?

This short seminar (maximum of 6 participants) will concentrate on Theme one, "Economic Development, Enterprise Development and Job Creation" which focuses on driving continued local economic and enterprise development, including the diversification of the rural economy (includes Drogheda region) and creation of employment opportunities for the local communities.

A representative of Louth LEADER will outline the main headings of LEADER funding that companies can apply for, the application process, and what is needed to create a succesful application.

Eligible Activities:

  1. Support & Development of Rural Micro-Enterprise Sector

  2. Support & Development of Agriculture & Marine Sector Diversification

  3. Support & Development of Food and Beverage Sector

  4. Support & Development of Creative Industries Sector (craft, new media,design)

The Louth Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) is the Local Action Group (LAG) with ultimate responsibility for the delivery, implementation and finances of the LEADER programme in County Louth.The LEADER elements of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 will provide €6,101,862 over the lifetime of the programme to support the sustainable development of County Louth.

LEADER can support micro, small and medium enterprises. Louth Local Enterprise Offices (LEO) have primary responsibility for micro-enterprise in County Louth and LEADER must complement rather than compete with LEO activity. .

Supported projects might include investment support or sector-specific training programmes for aspiring entrepreneurs, early stage promoters, social enterprises, start-ups and established SMEs. In the context of Priority 6, developing inclusive models of business support will be key to realising the potential of groups who are underrepresented in enterprise, e.g. women, young people and people with disabilities.
