Event description
Oranmore Arts Festival & Middle Third Social Farm presents... Lúnasa - Tommy Keane and friends

About this event

Middlethird Social Farm are kicking off preparations to celebrate Lúnasa, the Gaelic festival marking the beginning of the harvest season.

Traditionally, this involved climbing hills and offering up music, song and dance to the great gods to ensure a good harvest. Many climb Croaghpatrick for Lúnasa.

On Saturday 31st at 8pm Tommy Keane & Friends will be offering up Live Traditional Irish sounds and songs in the cottage garden- that’s right, Live Music!

Special guests on the night will be Cora Smyth, Jimmy Higgins, Mick Conneely and Jerry Mulvihill & Mary Staunton. Tommy will also be joined by Jacaqueline McCarthy on the night.

If you’re feeling energetic, or want a better view, you can climb up the Farm Mound, which Colm has trimmed into a mullet to provide a nice soft grassy seating area on top. He's also decorated the base with some Celtic Linear Knotwork, burt in with a Blowtorch... for added effect!!

All proceeds from this event will go directly towards the artists involved, who have been unable to perform during the past year and a half.

** DOORS OPEN AT 7.45P.M.**

What Covid precautions are the event/organiser taking?

As an outdoor event we are limiting the number of attandees to a total of 200, as per the Government guidelines on outdoor events. We will have handsanitiser stations throughout the venue and a one way system in place to facilaitate the monement of people. Furthermore, we can use the contact details submitted through Eventbrite to contact you, in the unlikely event that we need to, following the event.

Should I bring my mask?

It would be advisable to bring your mask as the toilet is located in the farm building and you will need one to enter. During the performance, as it's outdoors and well ventalated masks will not be required.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

The event is family friendly. However, anyone under 18 who wishes to come, must have their own tickets and be accompanied by an Adult/Guardian throughout the performance. We would recommend that younger children not be brought as the music will start at 8.p.m

How long will the performance be?

Roughly two hours in duration.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There will be limited parking at the event on The Middle Third Farm. This will be located in a field, close to the venue.

Sadly, there are no public transport options to get to the venue. We will have bicycle spaces at the event, for those who live nearby.

Alternatively, if the weather permits, you can park near Renville and walk down

** Please note gates at Renville Park may close at a specific time. Best option is to park on the road that leads down to the lower carpark**

Parking on the road - Renville

Is there a bar at the event?

There is no bar at the event. No refreshments will be served at the event. People who wish to can bring their own refreshments.

What should I bring into the event?

As this is an openair performance ( in the west of Ireland) we would advise that you bring layers as the nights will get colder. Also a jacket and strong footware is advised.

Also, if you have a camping chair then please bring it. We will have seating in place but this will be limited and allocated on a first come first served basis.

What happens if it rains? Will the concert go ahead?

We will know more about how the weather looks closer to the time. The aim of the organisers is to go ahead with the concert. However, if the weather looks really unsettled we will have little choice but to postpone the concert. In that case we will be in contact with each of the ticket holders regarding this.

Will refunds be issued?

The aim of this event is to raise money for musicans who have been unable to perform in the last year and a half. As such we will only be giving out refunds if we are unable to proceed with the event, either on the night, or at a later date if it has to be postponed.

Is the venue wheelchair accessible?

The venue itself is a yard consisting of a mix of grass and loose gravel areas. Though challanging as a terrain it is still possible to bring a wheelchair across this surface. Also the toilet at the venue is wheelchair friendly. The parking area is located on a slope. However, with proir notice we can facilatate drop off and collection at the main gate.
