We all know how hard it can be to get a job – for those with disabilities it’s twice as difficult (Census 2011).
Join us at ‘Make it Work: Employment and People with Disabilites', where people with disabilities, their family, supporting organisations, policymakers and employment service providers will consider the policies that can best support people with disabilities ambition to access and retain employment.
The event will be opened by Minister Finian McGrath T.D., Minister of State, with special responsibility for disabilities.
The focus will be on people with disabilities’ and their experience of looking for work, and working to keep the jobs they have.
It is one year since the launch of the Comprehensive Employment Strategy for People with Disabilities. Despite high expectations, people are still experiencing significant issues accessing work, yet, the Department of Social Protection Survey (2015) found 43% of people on Disability Allowance want to work, given the right supports.
