Actions and Detail Panel

Online event

This is Irelands first free, online support group currently offered to men with eating disorders aged 18years and over.

About this event

If you are male and think you may have an Eating Disorder . We would you like to join our Male Eating Disorder support group online to discuss concerns, issues and your experiences of living with an Eating Disorder.

It is a common misconception that Eating Disorder only effect women. Despite1 in 7 men develop an Eating Disorder by the age of 40 (Ward et al., 2019). As a result of this misconception, men with eating disorders are often under diagnosed, under treated and under researched.

The issues, symptoms and risk factors can present in different ways in males and that there are certain risk factors that are more ‘male-oriented’ to be aware of. We will discuss these key differences along with recovery related information.

Men like women need support, Lois Bridges are now hosting a group online fortnightly, these sessions enable men whom are experiencing living with an Eating Disorder to be honest about their experience in a safe environment.

The peer to peer enables the members to offer support and guidance to each other. It is not a therapy group, although they often have a therapeutic effect, helping a person to feel calmer and more able to cope.

The group is organised through Zoom online platform and is facilitated by a Lois Bridges Psychologist, Psychologist volunteer, and Peer Support Volunteer.

Places are limited, so ensure that you register in advance to secure your place. Please contact for more information.
