About this event

Dublin City Council would like to announce a pre-statutory public consultation on the proposed universal access improvement works to Dublin’s Mansion House, Oak Room and Round Room. The consultation will take place on-line due to current Covid Restrictions.

Background

The Mansion House is the official residence of the Lord Mayor since 1715. Since then it has hosted city, national and international events in the Mansion House itself and in its public rooms – the Round Room dating from 1821 and the Supper Room dating from the 1890s. It is included in the City of Dublin Record of Protected Structures and is a National Monument.

As the official residence of the Lord Mayor, all citizens of Dublin should be able to access the building without difficulty. The current universal access provision via a platform lift and steps has proven unsatisfactory over the last few years.

Consultation

The proposed works will provide improved universal access via a new ramped approach originating in the Lord Mayor’s Garden. This involves the redesign of the landscaping of the existing garden and of the shared access route to the Round Room, Oak Room and Mansion House.

The event seeks the views of all interested parties on the proposals. This consultation process will inform the design solution that will proceed as a Part 8 Planning Application.

Registration

All attendees must register individually in advance. You will receive an email with an individual Zoom link to join the event following registration.
