Manual Handling Instructor Refresher Training

Who Should Attend:The course is specially designed as a refresher for Manual Handling Instructors.

Prerequisites:A valid QQI Manual Handling Instructor Certificate

Course Duration: 9:30 AM - 4.30 PM

Requirements:The Course will run through Zoom or you can attend in person at our premises.

You will need a PC with audio/video, Internet, and room for the practical side. Make sure you are running a browser (google chrome, firefox, etc) and the Zoom application is installed.

You will receive an invitation from the designated tutor.

There is no strict format to the day as every instructor will have different areas of their competence that they will need to address. We will do a review of each participant's needs by assessing each trainer's knowledge and lifting skills, we will then help fill in any absence of skills or knowledge and refresh existing knowledge and skills.

The training is in a friendly environment with like-minded Manual Handling Instructors. This will give participants the opportunity to learn from their peers and from a very experienced MHI tutor.

Topics covered and refreshed on the day will include:

-Legislation: Acts, Regulations, insurance, courts, employers, and employees' legal responsibilities.

-Risk assessment process: Hazards and risks, evaluating risks, recommending controls

-Injuries and anatomy. A more detailed look at the anatomy and how injuries occur.

-Lifting Skills: Practical session on lifting techniques using a range of different loads including awkward loads, fluid loads, lifting up and downstairs, team lifts, pushing, and pulling.
