Description

Bandfield - Mardyke 300 music concerts

2019 marks the 300th anniversary of the construction of the public recreation area of the Mardyke in Cork city. To mark this unique moment in the city’s history, the Glucksman invited artist Deirdre Breen to create a large scale artwork at the site of the original bandstand in front of the UCC Ceremonial Gates on Western Road. A free programme of music events are planned for the coming months that celebrate the Mardyke’s long history as a civic space and venue for outdoor performances.

For the final concert of the Bandfield series, the Glucksman has teamed up with UCC FUAIM to bring you Antoni O’Breskey and the Nomadic Piano Project. Prepare to be taken on a musical journey where Jazz and Classical music meets its roots in the traditional music of the world. The concert will introduce original compositions and re-elaborated versions of well-known pieces mixed with Irish Music, Flamenco and Balkan sounds.

Bandfield and the Mardyke 300 celebrations are supported by Cork City Council.
