SPRING HERITAGE – LECTURE SERIES 2018

Join us for the fifth Heritage Lecture Series on the 6th, 7th 8th March in Marlay House, Rathfarnham Dublin 16.

Over three evenings we have a host of lecturers who will all speak on their chosen subjects.

Night 1.

Dr Audrey Whitty :Keeper, National Museum of Ireland will speak on The collection that forms part of the National Museum Collection- Collins Barracks, and Brian Crowley Curator of the Pearse Musuem next to Marlay House - Padraig Pearse in 10 objects .

Night 2

Dr Jennifer Goff from the National Museum Collin BarracksThe Eileen Gray Experience , Followed by Dr Margarita Cappock, - Hugh Lane Gallery, on The collection of the Hugh Lane Gallery

Night 3

The last night will feature the Chester Beatty Library Director Fionnuala Croke - Chester Beatty’s Gift to the Nation: Celebrating 50 years, followed by Sean Rainbird-Director of the National Gallery of Ireland - Emil Nolde in the context of the refurbished buildings of the National Gallery of Ireland.


MARLAY HOUSE

The 18th Century Marlay House is situated in one of DLR’s Flagship Parks and hosts a range of family friendly events throughout the year. The state of the art Children’s Playground, walled garden and coffee shop have greatly added to the experience of the many visitors to the Park each year. The well attended weekend Market is the ideal location to find organic fresh Farm Produce and the adjoining Marlay Craft Courtyard Complex will be opening Spring 2018 with range of new craft enterprises producing and retailingin this restored Centre. We hope that you will come along and enjoy what is expected to be some wonderful evenings in a very special setting.

Details of event: This is a ticketed event run by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council but booking in advance is essential for all lectures. If the event is not sold out there will be a limited number of tickets available at the door each evening.

Pedestrian Entrance on Grange Road. Marlay House Car Park Entrance on Grange Road. Car Park Entrance on College Road.

By Bus:

No. 16 (Santry to Ballinteer via City Centre)
no. 16A (Santry to Grange Road via City Centre & further 10mins walk up Grange Road)
no. 116 (From DCU to Marlay via Drumcondra, Leeson Street & Dundrum)
no. 161 (via Nutgrove, Rathfarnham)

By Car:

Marlay Park is adjacent to the M50. Take exit 12 (3.5km to Park entrance on R113) or exit 13 (2km to Park entrance on R113).From the City Centre head South on the N81 to Terenure. Change to the R114 and continue on to Rathfarnham. At Rathfarnham turn right onto Grange Road which leads on to the R113.
