NIGHT 2 - Saturday 19TH MAY- 'Fleadh Mharlaí'- TRADITIONAL MUSIC AND SONG NIGHT

Frankie Gavin and The Provenance – formerly of De Dannan performing live in the Marquee

Frankie Gavin, recognised as Gradam Ceoil’s 2018 “Traditional Musician of the Year”, and renowned long time member of De Danann, has now launched a brand new, high octane fiddle group, The Provenance, to play festivals, theatres and arts centres at home and abroad.

Led by Frankie Gavin, The Provenance comprises Sorcha Costello, Eadaoin Ni Mhaicin and Ciara O’Brien, three powerful, highly experienced fiddle players and stars in their own right. They have won numerous awards and All Ireland competitions and toured the world both in a solo capacity and in a range of groups and orchestras.

Those familiar with Frankie Gavin’s past musical output will know that he is fiercely committed to presenting traditional Irish music in a modern context. The repertoire of The Provenance will reflect this, so expect blistering sets of jigs and reels, sprightly hornpipes and barn dances as well as slower more reflective pieces.

MARLAY HOUSE AND GARDENS

The 18th Century Marlay House is situated in one of DLR’s Flagship Parks and hosts a range of family friendly events throughout the year. The state of the art Children’s Playground, Walled Garden and Coffee Shop (OPEN ON CONCERT EVENINGS FOR REFRESHMENTS) have greatly added to the experience of the many visitors to the Park. The well attended weekend Market is the ideal location to find organic fresh Farm Produce and the Council are in the process of restoring the adjoining courtyard buildings to encourage a range of new craft enterprises into this location due to open with new tenants this year. We hope that you will come along and enjoy what is expected to be some wonderful evenings in a very special setting.
