Maths Minds is a celebration of real classroom activities from around the world!
For one afternoon only visiting Maths Week presenters will gather in one room and deliver their best problem solving ideas for the teachers of Ireland. So don't worry about travelling the length and breadth of Ireland to see each one individually - just come to the Fitzwilliam Hotel at 12 o'clock and be prepared to for an invigorating afternoon of brilliant maths ideas!

12 – 12:45 Franz Schlindwein – Izak9

Izak9 is a unique, radical and innovative maths resource from Qubizm, a company with more than 25 years’ experience in the teaching and learning of mathematics. It is an immersive, multi-media rich, active learning device designed for use by children in Primary and Post Primary schools and for the delivery of teachers’ personal and professional development training.
1 – 1:45 Douglas Buchanan – Maths beyond the textbook
‘Maths beyond the Textbook’
Moving away from the textbook is not always easy. In this session, retired teachers and maths extraordinaire Douglas Buchanan will talk you though some helpful ideas in how to do so.
2 – 2:45 MACCA – The Maths Museum of Catalonia
‘Three is company’
Guido Ramellini will lead this session focussed on the materials in your classroom and how best to use them.
3 – 3:45 Gordon Hamilton – Problem solving puzzles
Put your students in a pickle!
Dr. Pickle, AKA Gord, will show and discuss some great board games, puzzles and unsolved problems for your to take back to your classroom.
