Mayo Dark Sky Festival 2019
Event Information
Description
Mayo Dark Sky Festival is a three-day celebration of the beautiful county of Mayo and the skies above it.
This is the fourth year of the festival which aims to educate, entertain and inspire people, helping them to better understand and appreciate the importance of unpolluted natural skies. The festival is jointly hosted by Newport, Mulranny and Ballycroy, the three rural communities surrounding Ireland's only Dark Sky Park.
During the day time there are plenty of events including talks and workshops on astronomy, environmental matters, culture and heritage, science shows, photography, robotics workshops, planetarium shows and lots more.
Evening events will explore local heritage to complement the night-time theme, including torchlit walks and stargazing, storytelling, magic and music.
Our ticketing is very simple - just pick a ONE day or TWO DAY Ticket to gain access to all talks. As some workshops have limited capacity, we ask people to pre-book those specific events to avoid disappointment (i.e.the Robotics Workshop, Save the Planet Kids Workshop and Astro-Photography Class) and KIDS GO FREE (Under 16s)!!
Tickets for our opening night performance by Anúna : Systir and Saturday's Gala Dinner can also be booked online here.
Entry to individual talks for non ticket-holders will be €7.50 per talk, and may be limited depending upon availability, payable on the door
There are also many FREE events for which ticketing is not required (Solar Walks, Planetarium Shows, Art Exhibitions, Stargazing sessions - check festival website for details).
