Description

WHAT IS THE MAYO PINK RIBBON CHARITY CYCLE?

This is an annual charity cycle that takes place each year on Saturday of the May Bank Holiday Weekend. This cycle is becoming one of the most popular fundraising events in the west of Ireland in no small part due to the warm welcome cyclists receive from the local communities along the routes. All money raised by Mayo Pink Ribbon goes directly to The National Breast Cancer Research Institute. CHY9997

Almost €900,000 has been raised over the past 9 years and with your help we hope to bring that figure over €1,000,000 this year!

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ENTER?

There is no fee to register for this event but as this is a fundraiser all cyclists are asked to raise or donate a minimum of €100 in order to participate (€60 for u18s). Sponsorship cards will be issued on receipt of registration.

CAN I FUNDRAISE ONLINE?

All cyclists will be issued with sponsorship cards on registration. You also have a facility to set up a fundraising page through Everyday Hero. There is a link to this on our website.

IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE TO PARTICIPATE

All cyclists under 18 must have a consent signed by a parent or guardian on the morning of the cycle. Children under 16 must be accompanied on the cycle by an adult.

CYCLE SAFETY

Our event is a leisure cycle not a race and it takes place on open roads. It is of paramount importance that cyclists obey the rules of the road at all times showing courtesy and consideration for other road users and riding in a manner that is safe to themselves and others. All cyclists participate at their own risk and they must rely on their own ability in dealing with all hazards. We ask that you please obey the instructions of gardaí, marshals, helpers and support staff at all times. When out on open roads we ask that cyclists only ride two abreast when safe to do so and go in single file when necessary. The use of earbuds while cycling is prohibited.

All participants should have a level of fitness appropriate to their chosen route.
