Making News & Hitting Headlines
NOTE: our October workshop has been block booked by the Women in Technology & Science Network. But there are still a few places left.
This intensive and practical half-day workshop will equip you with basic media skills to help you publicise your latest report or research, your business, or an event.
You will learn about How To:
- Identify what makes ‘News’
- Find out how to hit the headlines
- Write a successful press release . . . one that isn’t instantly binned!
- Contact journalists
- Develop good media relations
The focus is on the central technique of how to craft an effective press release. The workshop includes practical exercises, and the result is an enjoyable and productive learning experience. By the end of the session, you will have drafted your press release, and even sketched out your media campaign. This media skills session is a useful starting point for identifying and clarifying your message.
To get the most out of the workshop, it helps if you have something to publicise, whether an upcoming event, a campaign, research finding, etc. We will send you a pre-session exercise to start you thinking!
