Meet Week is a new event being hosted by Ciara Reilly and Dr Aimie Brennan in association with the STER (Student Teacher Educational Research) project. The aim of Meet Week is to encourage education students and teachers to come together to share practice and talk about their professional learning and development. We are running two events in May 2021 - a Teachmeet and a Researchmeet.
Teachmeet: Teachmeets are informal sharing events where participants make either a nano (2 minute) or macro (5-7 minute) presentation on any topic of their choosing. For example, they might share a tantalising tip, a sizzling strategy or an innovative idea that worked for them in practice. Teachmeets are highly popular the world over because of how informal they are; essentially the concept is to bring an idea, to share it, and to take many more away as you leave. Our Teachmeet will be hosted via Zoom on Tuesday 4th of May 2021 from 4pm-5pm.
Researchmeet: Researchmeets are informal information sharing events where participants make macro presentations of 10 minutes on any topic of their choosing. For example, they might share some research that they have done themselves, or research that they have applied in their classroom. Researchmeets are a really nice way of making research accessible for students and teachers; essentially the concept is to bring some research, to share it, and to take ideas away with you as you leave. Our ResearchMeet will be hosted via Zoom on Thursday 6th of May 2021 from 4pm-5pm.
All students and teachers from across the country are welcome to take part. If you have any questions about Meet Week, please don't hesitate to contact us: meetweekemail@gmail.com.
