Event description

Description

Each year 1 in 5 Australians will experience a mental illness. Many people are not knowledgeable or confident to offer assistance. Physical first aid is accepted and widespread in our community, however most do not cover mental health problems. Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches people the skills to help someone who they're concerned about.

This 12 hour course, split over two days, provides participants with skills to help them assist someone developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis and make a real difference to their community.

Participants will be provided with a MHFA manual, and lunch on both days. Upon completion of the 12 hour course participants will receive a certificate of completion and can go on to become an accredited MHFAider.

Please only register if you are available to attend both dates; Saturday 19th & 26th October from 9.30am to 5pm.

Due to funding requirements, this training is offered to members of the Irish Australian Community in NSW only.

This training is supported by the Irish Consulate Sydney and Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's Emigrant Support Program.
