Description

This workshop, for both mentors and mentees, offers an introduction to the mentoring mind-set and develops the skills and approaches needed for mentoring to be successful for both parties. To ensure that you can get the most out of any future mentoring relationship the workshop will explore themes like fundamental mentoring principles, different models of mentoring, and how to define and achieve your mentoring goals.

The workshop is ideal for creative writers interested in offering mentoring services to emerging writers. Whether you're beginning or developing your career as a creative writing teacher or mentor, you're bound to gain useful knowledge and insight into best practice and process in creative mentoring. Equally, people currently undergoing the process or being mentored are welcome to attend.

About the presenter

Mentoring for Writers workshop will be run by Monika Sapielak from the Creative Entrepreneurs Academy (CEA) @ the Centre for Creative Practices (CFCP) as part of the Words Ireland Writers Café series.

Monika Sapielak is Co-founder and CEO of Creative Entrepreneurs Academy that is dedicated to promoting and fostering productive, sustainable and rewarding creative careers through development and delivery of tailored entrepreneurial education, capacity building programmes and professional mentoring for creative practitioners. Monika has been working in the European cultural and creative sectors for over 20 years and has wealth of first-hand experience in creative mentoring.

Her mentoring and coaching expertise includes Creative Professional Development Mentoring, Personal and Career Development for Creative Practitioners, Curatorial Mentoring as well as Creative Start-Ups Support, Business Strategy for Creative Organisations and Enterprises, Fundraising, EU Funding – grant writing and grant applications’ review.

Monika is also a curator and producer, and is currently working on CFCP’s yearly flagship event called New Voices of Ireland Series http://cfcp.ie/nvoi5/ that presents and promotes migrant, experimental and emerging artists through participatory artistic programme focused on socially relevant topics.

Monika is also developing ArtConnected, an online platform that connects creative talent with professional opportunities www.artconnected.ie. She is a recipient of the Merit to Polish Culture awarded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of the Republic of Poland as well as a main recipient of the Arthur Guinness Fund.

Monika is a regular speaker at international conferences about Creative Entrepreneurship, Connecting Creative Talent with Professional Opportunities, Mentoring and about Cultural Diversity and Collaboration Practices.
