Description

#MeToo is a seismic movement that has empowered people across the world to break the silence around sexual assault and harassment. This 90-minute interactive workshop will encourage participants to interrogate the impact of this movement on the university in terms of teaching and learning, research and the campus community. Participants will undertake activities, such as group discussions and role plays, in order to discuss themes such as gender expression, consent and harassment, all of which are relevant to our understanding and protection of our chosen gender and sexuality.

Through this workshop, which is open to both students and staff, we invite you to help create a more welcoming and inclusive campus environment, in which both students and staff feel that they belong and can actively participate. This workshop will be of particular interest to faculty whose teaching and learning engages with social justice movements. It will also demonstrate the benefits of critically analyzing online material in the classroom, supporting teaching staff in developing ideas about utilizing digital material in order to spark debate and demonstrate relevance. International expert Dawn Campbell will model best practice in this arena, which will be relevant to those specializing in categories such as gender, class, race, intersectionality, and identity politics.

Refreshments will be provided to allow the discussion to continue over tea and coffee afterwards.

This is a join initiative of the College of Arts and Humantities EDI Commitee and the School of English, Drama and Film.
