Description

Michael Craig-Martin

from the Fountain to an Oak Tree

The renowned, Irish-born artist, Michael Craig-Martin will give a talk 'in conversation' with Sean Rainbird, Director, National Gallery of Ireland, about the ideas that have been expressed through his artwork and teaching. To acknowledge the centenary of Marcel Duchamp’s iconic Fountain (1917), Craig-Martin will elucidate his particular response to Duchamp’s influence and its role in his work, before the evolution of his own distinctive perspective. The talk will be followed by an opportunity for discussion and questions from the floor.

Launch: Linda Doyle, Professor of Engineering and the Arts, Trinity College Dublin
Introduction: Yvonne Scott, Associate Professor, Director, TRIARC, Trinity College Dublin
Closing Remarks: Sean Rainbird, Director, National Gallery of Ireland
