Event description
Mindfulness and Awareness. An introduction to meditation, as taught in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

About this Event

Mindfulness and Awareness

The path of mediation

Age-old wisdom for a modern world.

Practical, yet profound

Simple, and Clear

An introduction to meditation, as taught in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. This course takes you on a journey to discover for yourself first-hand the practice of meditation, as taught in the Buddhist tradition. Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more experience, this interactive course provides everything you need to start meditating or to deepen your practice. Filled with clear and simple advice on how to practise, and how to develop mindfulness and awareness both ‘on the cushion’ (or chair) and in daily life, this course will support you in your own personal journey of discovering, establishing and deepening the practice of meditation.

Led by meditation instructors with many years of experience, you’ll explore key themes and instructions, drawing on advice from the Buddhist teachings as well as insights and findings from recent scientific research. Each session consists of practice, exploration and discussion, and includes a helpful workbook and guided audio meditations to support your practice at home. Also, exploring meditation in a group setting – even in a small group – has many benefits, such as:

- learning from other’s experience, and sharing our own

- being supported by the atmosphere of group practice

- and, of course, getting to know other people over a cup of tea

Course dates: Wednesday evenings 7-9pm, January 15th - March 11th, 2020, no class March 4th.

Location: Rigpa Centre, 3rd Floor, 12 Wicklow Street, Dublin 2

Rigpa

The Buddhist teachings first came to Tibet in the 8th century and were brought to their highest expression over the intervening 1300-year period through an unbroken lineage of authentic masters. To bring the teachings of Tibetan Buddhism to the West, Rigpa was founded in the 1970s by Sogyal Rinpoche, a Tibetan Lama, globally renowned meditation teacher and author of ‘The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying’. It is now established in twenty-seven countries (on four continents) across the world and was established in Ireland in 1986. There are several Rigpa Centres in Ireland, one of which - Dzogchen Beara on the Beara Pennisula in West Cork – is an international retreat Centre.
