About this event

Looking for ways to support you living well and adpating to the ever-changing and vivid uncertainty of a post-covid world? Maybe you've heard about mindfulness as a way to support you through life's stresses and strains? Maybe you are recovering from a major illness or life difficulty? Perhaps you have tried some practices at home and you wish to bring mindfulness into your life in a more regular way? Well this is the course for you!

MBSR is the ‘gold standard’ programme that gives people the opportunity to develop an individual personal practice of mindfulness. First designed by Jon Kabat-Zinn, this is the programme that has been most widely researched and has yielded significant health benefits for people, physically and psychologically. Learning new skills takes effort and repeated practice so this programme gives participants the space to learn the skills of mindfulness in a supportive small-group setting.

This course is practical, individualised and even fun! Mindfulness is simply being aware. And with awareness comes choice, when we can see what is happening in our lives, what supports us and what does not, we can make wise choices that help us to live more connected to what really matters to us. We can reduce our stress, increase joy and feel stronger and more resilient when life's challenges show up from time to time. You deserve to know you are enough just as you are, to feel well and strong and to experience life in full. We may not be able to control the waves, but we can learn to surf them!

As a certified mindfulness teacher and chartered clinical psychologist*, I follow best practice guidelines for teaching mindfulness and a code of professional practice to ensure that we work together safely. Before signing up for the full course, we will arrange a pre-course conversation to make sure that this is the best course for you at this time in your life.

Deposit of €50 secures a place. Full course fee is €250. This covers all 8 2.5 hour sessions, a course workbook and mp3/cds of audio recordings and a full day retreat including lunch. This works out less than €10 per hour. Worth it!

Organiser of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Online Morning Course (MBSR)

My professional background is in clinical and educational psychology.  I am a Chartered Psychologist with the Psychological Society of Ireland, with qualifications in both clinical and educational psychology. Having discovered mindfulness as a way of supporting me through a particularly difficult time in my life, I also discovered an unanticipated renewed joy and curiosity for living well. The science helps too. Knowing that there is a strong foundation of evidence base for this simple yet powerful way of being.  I continue to be grow and deepen my practice and I love sharing practices with others. Each person and group I get to work with, shows me the practical power of mindfulness practice for each of us when we stop, acknowledge and grow what naturally lies within.  

 

I follow the good practice guidelines for teaching mindfulness and I am a certified MBSR teacher with the Mindful Academy and a .b Foundations Teacher with the Mindfulness in Schools project. I am also a member of the Mindfulness Teachers' Association of Ireland (www.mtai.ie).  I offer mindfulness training in my local community through my private practice, Discovering Mindfulness. I have introduced mindfulness training as part of my work with the School of Education, University College Dublin. I am also a co-trainer of MBSR (mindfulness) teachers at the Mindful Academy Solterreno, Spain.
