Fiona Doherty

Fiona grew up in a musical family from Charlestown, Co. Mayo and learned her music from her father and grandfather, both fiddle players. She has been teaching music at all levels for over 30 years in the South Sligo area, including the South Sligo Summer School, and has played extensively abroad in Europe, Australia and U.S.A.

In recent years Fiona has been teaching the Mixed Instrument class for Adults at the summer school, which has proven a very popular addition to our face-to-face programme. This workshop is mainly suitable for adults at an intermediate playing level. Musicians with a classical or other musical background who wish to hone their traditional Irish music playing skills are also most welcome to enrol in this class.
