The exhibition marks the 100th anniversary of Lloyd George's general amnesty of June 1917 which saw the release of the remaining Irish prisoners in British jails following the 1916 Rising. The documents in the exhibition and catalogue include letters, prison notebooks, secret despatches, diaries and propaganda material and cover all aspects of imprisonment, protest, the effect of imprisonment on social and family life and the release and homecoming of prisoners. The lecture will discuss the documents used in the exhibition.
