With this first event to mark our partnership with Ealaín na Gaeltachta, to showcase the best of the gaeltacht arts on campus, we are delighted to welcome the renowned musical family, Muintir Uí Cheannabháin, of Ard Thoir, Carna to the campus. These award-winning singers, musicians and ambassadors for the Gaeltacht and the Irish language are one of the best-known musical families and exponents of Sean-nós singing. Appearing regularly on TG4 and airwaves across the world, Muintir Uí Cheannabháin bring their own distinctive style to traditional and modern songs.

This is an incredible opportunity for us in the University of Galway and the wider Arts-in-Action family to celebrate the unique culture of Galway, with masters of the tradition. ‘Sean-nós an nadúr a d’fhás siad aníos leis agus tá sé go domhain ina gcnámha’.

Micheál Ó Fearraigh, Feidhmeannach Forbartha Ealaíne, Údarás na Gaeltachta said: “In celebrating the cultural and artistic richness of the Gaeltacht through our partnership with ‘Arts in Action’, campus of Galway can celebrate the vitality of the arts in presenting the image and identity of the Gaeltacht both nationally and internationally."

“We invite the community of the University of Galway to participate in and be proud of the high-quality art continuously being produced by Gaeltacht artists.
