About this event

As the Maker movement is increasingly adopted into Primary and Secondary schools and nonformal makerspaces, students have more opportunities to generate unique, personalized projects and artifacts, such as computer programs, robots, DIY electronics, and develop new competencies and skills. These making activities can provide learning experiences that promote young people’s creativity, critical thinking, collaboration and problem-solving skills - the essential skills necessary in the workplace of the 21st century.

We will provide an introduction about the project, who was involved, and what we achieved in the context of developing and piloting a digital tool to assess the development of 21st C Skills.

This end of project event is aimed at educators, facilitators of makerspaces and those interested in the development of 21st C Skills through making activities. There will also be an opportunity to meet other stakeholders through breakout sessions.

ABOUT THE ASSESSMAKE21 PROJECT

What is ASSESSMAKE21?

The goal of the ASSESSMAKE21 project was to provide, pilot, and validate novel assessment methods and tools for the assessment of 21st century skills with a focus on makerspaces. The project partnership created learning environments that enabled students to act as makers using a wide variety of physical and digital tools.

Teachers and educators received training in this approach and were highly involved in planning and implementing the activities.

Finally, the project will report findings and conclusions from pilots that took place in schools and non-formal maker spaces in Ireland, Sweden, Greece, and Cyprus.
