Description

Tuesday 17 Jan: Kris Drever, Julie Fowlis, Aoife Ní Bhriain & Pádraig Rynne (IRELAND/SCOTLAND)

The Sugar Club, Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2 (8pm)

Embark on an odyssey of love, loss and wonder as four incredibly talented and creative musicians shape songs from ages past into something fresh, dynamic – and irresistible.

Tuesday 21 Feb: Dinosaur (UK)

The Sugar Club, Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2 (8pm)

Following boldly in the footsteps of the likes of Polar Bear and Phronesis, Dinosaur skilfully weave electric-jazz, Celtic folk melodies and north African drumming styles into a sound reminiscent of late-1960s Miles Davis.

Wednesday 22 Mar: Emmanuelle Bertrand (cello) & Pascal Amoyel (piano) (FRANCE)

St. Ann's Church, Dawson Street, Dublin 2 (8pm)

The duo have garnered widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike and in particular for the “wonderful singing quality” of their playing – the nuanced phrasing of Amoyel the perfect foil for the glowing tones and textures of Bertrand’s cello. Unmissable!

Wednesday 19 Apr: Mia Cooper, Katherine Hunka, Ioana Petcu-Colan & Helena Wood (IRELAND/UK)

St. Ann's Church, Dawson Street, Dublin 2 (8pm)

Four of Ireland’s finest violinists – from the country’s most prestigious orchestras to boot – come together for the very first time in what promises to be a scintillating series of concerts.

Wednesday 3 May: Darol Anger & Republic of Strings (USA)

The Sugar Club, Dawson Street, Dublin 2 (8pm)

With his unique genre-bending blend of bluegrass, jazz, folk and classical styles, Grammy-nominated fiddler Darol Anger is a master of the unexpected, darting from Swedish polkas to Brazilian choro before segueing seamlessly into a soul classic – all delivered with the rollicking abandon of a hootenanny.
