On behalf of Heather Humphreys T.D., Minister for Rural and Community Development, I am delighted to invite you to the 2nd Annual National Social Enterprise Conference which will take place on International Social Enterprise Day, Thursday 19th November 2020. This event will take place online.
The theme of the conference is:
‘Shaping a Sustainable, Inclusive Recovery’
The National Social Enterprise Policy 2019-2022 includes a commitment to hold an annual Social Enterprise Conference as part of its objective to Build Awareness of Social Enterprise.
Minister Humphreys will provide the conference’s keynote address and will mention how social enterprises stepped up and responded to the Community Call, and the significant progress made in implementing the National Social Enterprise Policy 2019-2022.
There will be an interview with John Evoy the General Manager of Grow Remote, and an international perspective will be offered by Antonella Noya, Head of Social Economy and Innovation at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).
A number of social enterprises have been invited to share their story at the conference through video. MyMind a social enterprise that is working to provide community based access to mental health care services early, affordably and without stigma, and WePlay a social enterprise that provides innovative ways to encourage children to participate in physical activity.
A panel discussion is also planned with guest speakers Siobhán Cafferty , Social Enterprise Project Manager with the Probation Service, Mary Fogarty from social enterprise ‘Loughmore Cottage’ a cáfe/community hub in North Tipperary, and Helen Nolan from Spraoi & Sport, a social enterprise delivering social, recreational and educational activities for the community of Carndonagh in Donegal.
