The first talk in the series will introduce the Nordic welfare model, its origins, development and challenges. Prof. Bent Greve (Roskilde University, DK) will break down the complexities of the Nordic model, while also debunking myths and stereotypes. Lesley Riddoch (UK/Scotland), journalist and founder of Nordic Horizon, joins the panel to talk about her campaigning for Nordic ideas in Scotland. Gary Gannon TD, Social Democrats spokesperson for social protection completes the panel and reflects on the Irish perspective.
With the audience the panel will discuss the steps required towards a Nordic welfare state and which issues should be prioritised in the next budget.
The talk is followed by a reception which will serve Danish pastries and tea/coffee.
