Minister Helen McEntee

Minister for Justice

Helen McEntee TD is the Minister for Justice. She was appointed to this role in June 2020. In the last Dáil, she served as Minister of State for EU Affairs.

Minister McEntee is the fourth female Minister for Justice in the history of the State

Michele O’Boyle

Past-President of the Law Society of Ireland, Woman Lawyer of the Year 2020

Michele O'Boyle is a Solicitor from Co. Sligo who served as the 149th President of the Law Society, and the fourth female President in its history. Ms O'Boyle is graduated from NUIG.

Ms O'Boyle won ‘Woman Lawyer of the Year Award 2020’ from the Irish Women Lawyers’ Association jointly with the Chair of the Bar of Ireland, Maura McNally SC

Maura McNally, SC

Chair of The Bar Council of Ireland, Woman Lawyer of the Year 2020

Ms McNally became the second-ever woman elected to the position in July 2020, following Ms Justice Mella Carroll who held the role more than four decades ago. Ms McNally holds two degrees from NUIG.

A native of Leitrim, Ms McNally called to the Bar in 1992 and practised on Circuit until her appointment to the Inner Bar in 2017. Following post-graduate studies in Warwick University (LLM), and NUIG (BA and LLB), she completed her Bachelors of Law in King’s Inns and practices civil law; primarily in personal injury, chancery and non-jury.

Anne Marie McMahon

Deputy Commissioner of An Garda Síochána

Anne Marie McMahon spent a significant portion of her career working in the Limerick garda division has been appointed as Deputy Commissioner.

She is one of two Deputy Commissioners in An Garda Síochána whose appointments have been approved by the Government following their nomination by the Policing Authority.

She is originally from County Clare and is a graduate of the University of Limerick.

Garda Commissioner Drew Harris added:

"Anne Marie brings huge policing experience, competence in difficult senior command roles, and drive and determination in delivering change through the Policing Service for our Future reform agenda. Through the exercise of positive leadership and example she has earned the trust and respect of members and staff within An Garda Síochána."
