Event description

Description

Mellow Tonics are delighted to present OF BEAUTY, the choir's third summer concert performance in Dublin.
This will be a unique evening with a rich choral blend of Irish Contemporary Classical and Popular sounds. The Choir will be joined by The Delmaine String Quartet and accompanied by Emmet O'Connor on piano. Programme will include compositions from Jane O'Leary, Sinead Finegan, Nick Kelly, Norah Walsh and others.

_________

Mellow Tonics are a mixed voice choir formed in Dublin city, Ireland in 2015.

We believe that singing together is good for the heart and that the collective voice has incredible power to transport performers and audiences alike to higher plains. Our repertoire stretches the divide of popular contemporary music to classical contemporary, with a special interest in Irish contemporary, led by composer Norah Constance Walsh.

Mellow Tonics regularly collaborate with other creators, musicians and artists and have enjoyed the pleasure of working with dancers, artists, comedians, architects, cellists and festivals across some great venues in Dublin city centre. Recent collaborations and events include performances at IMMA (The Irish Museum of Modern Art), The Freemasons, the Museum Building in Trinity College, and St. Laurence's Church, Grangegorman.

The Delmaine String Quartet are Philip Dodd (violin), Naoise Dack (violin), Vanessa Sweeney (viola) and Donal Wallace (‘cello)

Formed in 1995, the original Delmaine String Quartet studied with Adrian Petcu, Constantin Zanidache, Andreea Banciu, among others. The Quartet attended masterclasses with the Alberni Quartet at Madingley College, Cambridge, and also with Paul Robertson (Medici String Quartet) and completed an MA degree programme in Performance, at CIT/Cork School of Music, tutored by the Vanbrugh Quartet. In recent years two of those players have been replaced (by Robert Pierce and Naoise Dack). The Quartet has performed many public concerts & performances at venues including Pearse Museum, Airfield House, Kylemore Abbey, Crawford Municipal Art Gallery, Peacock Theatre, Electric Picnic, National Concert Hall, and at the Centre Culturel Irlandais, Paris (2008 & 2016). The Quartet performs a diverse programme of music with frequent collaborations with actors (Michael James Ford, Bairbre NiChaoimhe), vocalists (Susannah DeWrixon) and choirs. This is the second time the Quartet has performed with the Mellow Tonics

Mellow Tonics are also joined by Emmet O'Connor on piano.
