Céard é Ar Imeall?/ What is Ar Imeall?
Is Féile úrnua ildisciplíneach agus ilchultúrtha é Ar Imeall. Beidh Ar Imeall ag díriú ar thaibheoirí nua atá ag teacht chun cinn, ar nós ceoltóirí, amhránaithe, ealaíontóirí agus lucht taibhealaíona.
Is é bunchloch na Féile ná spás a chruthú don obair ar fad a bhaineann leis an gcultúr agus an teanga agus chun ardán a thabhairt dó.
Rachaidh an Fhéile i ngleic leis an gcastacht agus an éagsúlacht a bhaineann le cultúr na hÉireann inniu trí léiriú a dhéanamh ar ghnéithe éagsúla den chultúr sin. Beidh taispeántas ó Afrika Abú, taibheoirí Hip-Hop dátheangach, pobal Bród na Gaillimhe, píobaire uilleann, grianghrafadóireacht stairiúil chomh maith le taispeántais amharclainne agus scannáin trí Ghaeilge.
A mbuíochas d’Áras na nGael ar Shráid Dominic, atá ag óstáil na Féile an bhliain seo agus a bheidh mar chroílár don Fhéile sa todhchaí, tá an deis againn na himeachtaí seo a reáchtáil in ionad lárnach.
Leis seo, don chéad bhliain ar an mbóthar ag Ar Imeall, tá súil againn freastal ar thrasghearradh comhaimseartha do shochaí na hÉireann agus muid ag súil leis an Fhéile forbairt bliain ar bhliain.
Ar Imeall is an exciting new multidisciplinary and multi-cultural festival based in Galway City. Ar Imeall will be centred around showcasing emerging multidisciplinary Irish talent such as musicians, artists and performance work.
One of the cornerstones of the festival is to create a space for the Irish language and all work associated with Irish culture to showcase itself.
It addresses the complexity and diversity of Irish culture in 2022 by seeking out and including a wide range of performances from Afrika Abú, Irish HipHop artists and Lá Bród to Traditional Uilleann pipers, Historic Photography and Theatre performance work and Film through Irish.
Thanks to Aras na nGael on Dominic St, who are hosting this year’s festival and will be the Festival Hub, we have been centralising all events to the one location.
In this, the first year of Ar Imeall, the aim is to represent a contemporary cross-section of Irish society with the hope that this will grow year on year.
