Description

Shiúil Liam Ó Muirthile an Camino Francés as a chéile ó Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port go Santiago de Compostela i bhFómhar na bliana 2015. Leis féin a bhí sé agus a phaca ar a dhroim, ag fanacht sna tithe aíochta oilithreachta ar a thuras 770 km. Ina leabhar nua, Oilithreach Pinn, breacann sé an tírdhreach dúinn agus tráchtann sé ar na daoine a casadh air. Oilithreach pinn agus fionnachtain phearsanta í seo ina roinneann sé linn a chuid smaointe féin ar an dtír a bhfuil dlúthcheangal sinseartha ag Éirinn léi. Chomh maith leis sin, rinne sé aistriúchán ar roinnt dánta le Rosalía de Castro. Caitheann grianghraif Moira Sweeney loinnir ealaíonta ar chonair na n-oilithreach.

Poet Liam Ó Muirthile undertook the famous Camino de Santiago in 2015. Alone with his backpack, he walked the full 770 kilometres from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela, staying in pilgrimage hostels. Oilithreach Pinn (published by Cois Life) is a beautifully written account of the landscapes and the people he encounters on the camino, and also features his translations of Galician poet Rosalía de Castro.

Tonight Liam will read extracts from this book, which will be illustrated with on-screen projections of exquisite photographs by Moira Sweeney. Poems by Rosalía de Castro will be read in Galician by Carmen Alonso Rodriguez and in Irish by Liam.
