OMG We're Going Dutch (Galway)
Thu 1 December 2016, 18:00 – 22:00 GMT
With over 500 Irish students now registered on degree programmes, taught through English, in Dutch universities, the universities themselves are coming to Ireland to meet students and their families.
On foot successful events in Dublin and Cork, organised by EUNiCAS, a group of Dutch universities* are visiting Galway, to speak to prospective Irish students and their families, from accross the North-West. Importantly, Irish students, currently studying in the Netherlands, will be available for a chat on the night. (and they have proved to be the stars at previous events).
So why the Netherlands? Guy Flouch of the Irish-based EUNiCAS application support service, comments that:
“All Dutch research universities are higher ranked than Trinity and UCC. The Netherlands also hosts some extremely well-resourced Universities of Applied Sciences that offer really good employment-focused progrmmes. Dutch universities are not particularly interested in your Leaving Cert points [or your grades, for postgraduate progrmmes] for entry, and Tuition Fees which, at EUR 2006, are already very low, can be recouped by way of a low-interest loan from the Dutch government. There are also living expenses loans/grants available and you can event take SUSI with you! Add to that, the attractiveness of graduates from these institutions, to employers, in an increasingly globalised employment market, it is definitely worth thinking about”
Subject areas offered by participating universities, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, include International Law, Psychology, Physiotherapy, Business, Game Design, Medicine, Public Health, Biomedicine, International Relations/European Studies, Languages, Natural Sciences, Computer Science, Engineering, Hotel Management, Music, Fine Art and many more.
*You will be able to meet the following fifteen institutions: U. Groningen, U. Maastricht, Erasmus U, Radboud U., U. Twente, U. Tilburg, NHTV Breda, Hanze UAS Groningen, Saxion UAS, Windesheim UAS, InHolland UAS, HAN UAS, Rotterdam Business School, Willem de Kooning Academy and HZ UAS.
18.00 - 19.30
Exhibition of participating universities, giving you an opportunity to discuss with them, informally, their programmes and admissions procedures.
19.30 - 20.30
Presentations on Studying in the Netherlands, including Q&A with Irish students currently studying in the Netherlands
20.30 - 21.30

In addition, you can also book the preliminary Guidance Counsellor Workshop, from 16.30-17.30, which will give you an opportunity to meet the universities more personally, and to quiz them (and their students) about the opportunities they are offering.
