Event description

Description

The GUI and the ILGU have made significant progress in the discussions around the creation of One Governing Body (OGB) for Golf in Ireland, since the Discussions began in November 2015.

The Discussions Group (DG) would like to engage with a younger generation of golfers. We are planning that approx. 20 junior golfers will participate in the consultation session. The purpose of the session will be explained by the facilitator at the start and she will answer questions on this from juniors participating. At the end of the session she will outline where the contributions will go and what will happen to them. She may also ask if participants might like to give their views on other aspects of golf and the OGB over the coming months.

Your club is invited to send one girl and one boy between the ages of 8-10 to the session at Lisburn Golf Club from 1-4pm on Tuesday 22nd August. The two juniors attending can be of any handicap range or ability, rather than the most skilled or successful.

The meeting will be facilitated by Jane Williams, who is highly experienced in consulting with all age groups, including a younger generation. Jane has completed the safe recruitment process for Golf with the Confederation of Golf in Ireland (CGI).

A Participation Officer (PO) from the CGI will be there on the day and will run activities for one hour prior to the session. These will range from basic skills challenges to fundamental movement skills. Each junior will also receive a CGI goodie bag.
