Under the Collaborative Innovation Groups (CIGs), the Ocean Power Innovation Network (OPIN) offers support to SMEs to work collaboratively with other organisations, to solve problems which are barriers to the deployment of ocean energy. CIGs focus on challenges which cannot or have not been solved by one SME alone. Participation in a CIG is free of charge for eligible OPIN Members. For more details please have a look at our webpage.
The OPIN Team wants to develop a Collaboration Innovation Group (CIG) to help members understand the technology challenges and best practice associated with mooring lines and anchoring solutions for floating platforms.
The objective is to look at ways to develop reliable and cost-effective mooring lines and anchoring solutions, able to operate under harsh and strongly varying conditions, optimised for floating wind, wave & tidal energy platforms. We would therefore like to discuss design parameters, installation methodology, loading conditions and look at methods of monitoring integrity and degradation.
We are particularly interested to hear from floating wave, tidal and wind energy device developers who can describe their system loadings, fatigue characteristics, operating issues and from supply chain organisations who can describe both latest and emerging technologies.
Collaborative projects can result in different outcomes. The CIG topic and outcomes will be adapted to the needs of the OPIN Members, thus we would like to organise an online meeting to discuss your needs and interests.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday 17th June, from 10:00 to 11:30 BST (11:00 to 12:30 CET). The online meeting will start with a short overview of mooring & anchoring-related subjects and potential outputs of the project, followed by a discussion to define your needs.
The event is open to OPIN members only. OPIN registration is quick, free and gives access to an international network of more than 200 members and activities dedicated to offshore renewable energy. If your organisation is not listed here, please fill out the following Membership Form.
