Event description

Description

AGE: 8+

In this pop-up session, the facilitators will introduce the Japanese traditional paper craft called “Origami”. “Ori” means “to fold ”and “gami” means “paper” in Japanese. Origami has been practised since the Edo period(1603-1867) and even today almost all Japanese play origami as children and know how to fold at least one design. You can try making some origami to take home with you afterwards. You will also receive handouts explaining the story behind origami and templates so that you can make more on your own at home.

About the Mother Tongues Festival

To celebrate UNESCO’s International Mother Language Day, Mother Tongues is organising its first multilingual festival, which will feature performances and workshops in many different languages, including Irish, Polish, Arabic, Mandarin, Italian, Spanish, Romanian and many more! Our artists, performers and language lovers will entertain you in their own mother tongue, while showing you that our many languages are very much alive, and in use all around us every day! Having a festival in which many languages are used for many different purposes is our way of showing you that every language matters, no matter how “big” or “small” it is!
