Description

Our Ocean Wealth Summit

Set a course for Galway on the 28th and 29th of June for the Our Ocean Wealth Summit 2018. This year’s summit, 'Investing in Marine Ireland', will highlight the immense opportunities that our marine sector has to offer companies and organisations in Ireland and beyond. It will also provide an important opportunity to assess progress towards the Government’s targets to double the value of Ireland’s blue economy by 2030.

Our Ocean Wealth Summit 2018 is an ambitious event with an exciting programme of market-leading speakers, innovators, entrepreneurs and experts from industry, academia, research, policy and government. You can join with these leaders to experience two days of fast-paced, progressive thinking on Ireland’s ocean wealth in a national and global context. Be part of the discussion that shapes the Irish marine sector of the future.

This year the Our Ocean Wealth Summit will extend across two days, with a packed programme of presentations as well as panel discussion, interactive sessions and networking events. Galway Docks will host the event and its expected to attract more than 500 national and international delegates from across the marine sector.

The Summit’s keynote speaker is Mary Robinson, the 7th President of Ireland and the first female to hold this office. In 2010 she established The Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice, a centre for thought leadership, education and advocacy on the struggle to secure global justice for people vulnerable to the impacts of climate change.

The diverse programme planned for the Summit reflects strong collaboration between Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), Bord Bia, Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland, Fáilte Ireland, Science Foundation Ireland (SFI), Sustainable Energy Authority Ireland (SEAI) and the Marine Institute with individual sessions addressing environmental, economic and societal opportunities and challenges to creating a sustainable ocean economy for Ireland.

A pdf version of the programme with additional information is available here.

We are undertaking a short survey amongst conference attendees and would be delighted if you could spend a few minutes to complete it. The survey aims to establish the overall confidence in the growth potential for Ireland's marine economy as well as identifying the key challenges and opportunities facing the sector. We also look at the key factors that will maintain or increase Ireland's attractiveness as a centre of excellence for the blue economy, the impact of Brexit and how Government and industry can increase private sector investment.

The survey questionnaire, which should take less than 10 minutes to complete, can be found online by clicking the link below.

The findings from the survey will be launched publicly at the event. All responses are confidential and the individual responses will not be used for any unrelated purposes or shared with a third party. We will be delighted to send you a copy of the survey when it is launched.
