Event description

Description

An increasing amount of companies are moving their assets onto Amazon and almost daily there's news of a new unsecured S3 bucket. Amazon AWS services present an opportunity, an advantage but also a challenge security-wise, as companies need to rethink their internal security architecture and process.

In this meeting, Loic Rivron will go through the lessons learned while securing AWS Accounts for Workday. Also, as new breaches strike large and well established companies, we will go through the lessons learned by Eoin Hinchy who has experienced some of such incidents from a leadership perspective.

Details of the event are below. For any questions please feel free to email the Chapter distribution list:

Session 1 - Securing AWS Accounts (Loic Rivron)

Loic Rivron works as a Security Engineer at Workday. His primarily focus is to architect and deploy controls to enchance Workday's security posture regarding solutions deployed on AWS. In addition to engineering Security controls, Loic has been involved in shaping security standards, strategy and overall goverance regarding all things AWS. Prior to joining Workday, Loic worked as part of the Network Security Engineering and Architecture team for a fortune 15 company. Loic will present the different security challenges faced by companies like Workday when rapidly adopting AWS services and step through some of the approach Workday has used in order to allow development teams to avail of all the great services offered by Amazon technologies while maintaining a strong security posture and minimising security risk.

Session 2 - High-Profile Security Incidents: Common Patterns (Eoin Hinchy)

Eoin is founder of cyber security start-up Tines.io which helps security teams automate their incident response and security operations programs. Previous to Tines.io, Eoin spent a decade in various Cyber Security leadership roles, primarily focused on threat management and cyber security. In this talk, Eoin will describe several common patterns that have emerged from high-profile security incidents over the last 18 months. Some will seem obvious, others may be surprising.
