Patrick Wyse Jackson and Louise Caulfield walking tour “The decorative
and building stones of Georgian and Victorian Dublin”.
Dublin boasts over 170 different decorative and buildings stones in its built fabric. On this tour various stone types used in some iconic Georgian and Victorian buildings will be examined, and their characteristics, geological formation, and fabrication by skilled stoneworkers highlighted. This walk is based on several recently published books by the tour leaders, Professor Patrick Wyse Jackson and Dr Louise Caulfield, both of whom are researchers with the STONEBUILT Ireland project based in Trinity College Dublin.
