As part of the acclaimed Follow Me Up To Carlow Concert Series, we are delighted to present Philomena Begley and TR Dallas plus special guests on Thursday, July 27th at 8pm for a fantastic evening of music and stories not to be missed!

Born in County Tyrone, Philomena Begley is the undisputed Queen of Country Music. She began singing part-time with the Old Cross Ceili Band, which Country Flavour. which she made the Irish Top 10 with ‘Here Today, Gone Tomorrow’, to be followed by ‘Never Again’. The following year she formed her own band the Ramblin’ Men and had an Irish hit with ‘Ramblin’ Man’. Her subsequent Irish chart successes include ‘Wait A Little Longer Please, Jesus’, ‘Blanket On The Ground’ and duets with Ray Lynam, ‘You’re The One I Can’t Live Without’ and ‘My Elusive Dreams’. Philmonea has won many awards, a significant accolade was receiving a Bristish Country Music Award in recognition of her contribution to the development of country music in Britain. Begley has appeared on Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry, has recorded at Porter Wagoner’s studios, appeared at Carnegie Hall and at The Royal Albert Hall in London. She is a favourite at London’s Wembley Country Music Festivals and regularly tours the UK. After 40years in the business, she is still Ireland’s most popular best loved female entertainers. TR Dallas, fondly known as The Man with the Singing Hat is one of Ireland’s favourite entertainers. His first big break came in 1978 when he was picked to replace John Glenn as the lead singer with the legendary Mainliners Showband. The move gave Tom national exposure and when the opportunity came, he was ready. In May, 1980 (in Ireland), the final episode of Dallas aired with JR Ewing getting shot by an unknown assailant. Less than a month later, Tom Allen had recorded the song, "Who Shot JR Ewing?" changed his name to T.R. Dallas and had a hit record on his hands. Since then, he has become a household name throughout the British Isles and beyond with a string of hit records to his name, “Hard to be Humble”, “Daddy’s Girl” and “This Story I tell you is True” to name but a few as well as numerous radio and television appearances. TR Dallas has toured and performed with some of the biggest names in Country Music such as Johnny Cash, Boxcar Willie, Don Williams and Foster & Allen. In 1981 he graced the stage at the Grand Old Opry in Nashville, and in 1987 he represented Ireland at the European Gold Star Awards in Holland where he came joint third with the world-famous group The New Seekers. He continues to tour and entertain delighted audiences here and abroad.
