Piano Trio ж Kirkoskammer
Event Information
Description
The final instalment of Kirkoskammer Season 2 for 2018 features new sounds for one of the most iconic chamber music combinations, the piano trio. Many composers throughout the eras have written some of their most loved music for this arrangement of instruments; for this final Kirkoskammer instalment of the year, hear some of the latest offerings composed for this combination.
The programme features Donnacha Dennehy’s electric Bulb, featuring that relentless groove and dissonance that defines Dennehy’s unique sound. Blood Under Winter-White Skin by Amanda Feery sends the listener into a frenzy, and a brand new commission from Elis Czerniak departs the farthest from the medium’s traditions; also on the bill is Elliott Carter’s final composition Epigrams composed in 2012 and premiered posthumously. Schubert’s famous late-career Andante con moto is served as a brooding palate cleanser before the highly charged final movement of Lera Auerbach’s Trio.
Welcoming back a trio of performers that have been featured artists throughout the Kirkos seasons: Máire Carroll (piano), Siún Milne (violin) and Yseult Cooper Stockdale (cello).
