Píobairí sa Phluais: Pipers in the Cave

The music of two wonderful pipers, one Irish and one Scottish, will echo around a cavern deep in Valentia Slate Quarry shortly after the summer solstice.

Maitiú Ó Casaide, who has family roots on the island, and Allan MacDonald from the Highlands, will also be joined by Leonora Ní Leidhin (flute) and Róisín Ní Riain (fiddle and vocals) for what will be a memorable concert in memorable surroundings. Their choice of music and song will reflect those surroundings. Ailean Dòmhnullach even has a piping tune composed in a slate quarry in Baile a’Chaolais on the west coast of Scotland, with its echoing walls being part of the tune! Visually, musically and socially, this will be a unique unforgettable night, ná beidh a leithéid ann arís.
