About this event
Playback theatre is a form of improvisation where the audience share personal stories that are then "played back" by a team of actors and musicians.
For this workshop, we will be exploring how movement can be used by Playback theatre performers to express the core emotions and deeper meaning of a teller's story. How can we tap into an embodied expression that connects beyond words? Join us for a fun, playful evening of sharing and enacting our stories.
Through Playback theatre we aim to generate social change through the subversive act of deep listening in a time of sound bites and political polarization. We hope to “play a part in healing some of the injustices and upheavals of the past that fester not only in individuals, but in whole societies”. (Jonathan Fox, co founder of Playback theatre). We do this by creating space for the marginalized stories, the lesser heard stories, and the stories that just need to be told.
