Event description

Description

You are warmly invited to join us for the Mindfulness Ireland/ Plum Village, 5 night Spring Retreat 2019. The venue is the beautiful Ards Friary in Co. Donegal. Our retreat is in an area of spacious natural beauty, has tasty vegan food, single bedrooms and will be facilitated by four monastic dharma teachers from Plum Village, France. Space is limited and rooms fill quickly. ( information about Ards and Travel directions http://www.ardsfriary.ie/ ) ( Information about Zen Maser Thich Nhat Hanh & Plum Village https://plumvillage.org/ )

Arrival is Friday 3rd May and departure Wednesday 8th May. Five nights and partial attendance is not available.

The retreat will offer many opportunities for sitting meditation, walking meditation, eating meditation, relaxation and other mindfulness practices of Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. Daily inspiration and teachings will be offered by the Monastic Sisters and Brothers and other sangha members. There will be plenty of opportunities to explore the area and at the same time nourish yourself with mindfulnes and care. Periods of sacred silence are planned at meals and from 8:30 pm till 8:30 am.

All adult practitioners are welcome, from absolute beginners to experienced practitioners. A full orientation to the practice will be offered on the Friday evening. Everyone is encouraged to bring a smile and beginners mind.

The area has amazing headland walks, woods and the sounds of the sea. The food is vegan, (prepared by great chefs) and has been highly praised by previous retreat attendees. All of the retreats we have offered here have filled very quickly, with demand far greater than availability.

To book for this retreat use this Eventbrite page. Contact for retreat queries is via mindfulnessday.mi@gmail.com. (Do not contact the Friary as they are not handling the bookings or queries for the retreat.) We would also ask that you contact us through the above e-mail, so we can efficiently deal with your enquiry. If you wish to arrive prior to the retreat starting or stay later, please contact the Friary directly and they will make that additional booking for you. They offer B&B outside of event times. Please see the https://www.dropbox.com/s/9s4690kfkblze2l/BOOKINGS%20FAQ%20Spring%202019.pdf?dl=0 for answers to frequently asked questions about Retreat Bookings and Retreats in General.

Dana contribution for Monastics: The retreat prices are set to cover your accommodation and food costs and the flights and hosting of the four monastic teachers. At the end of the retreat you will be invited to offer a Dana ( money ) to the monastics for their time and effort. This donation is returned to Plum Village and used to support the monastic community. Please give generously from your heart.

Attending the retreat means you will be asked to help prepare the meditation room, the dining room or some other activity.

A note about our events

This retreat is organized by volunteers who also pay to attend the retreat so we invite you to look after yourself as much as possible. If you need help, of course people are very available and willing. Some volunteers will be visible and many others are behind the scenes supporting this event. When you attend a retreat, you too support the community, your contribution matters and you presence aids collective transformation. People offer service as part of their practice of being there for others and to help deepen collective understanding, harmony and peace.

This voluntary service means we can continue to offer retreats.
