Event description

Description

Poet and novelist Blake Morrison's books include And When Did You Last See Your Father?, the acclaimed 1993 memoir that won the JR Ackerley Prize for Autobiography. Jane Clarke was the winner of the Listowel Writers' Week Irish Poem of the Year in the Irish Book Awards 2016. All the Way Home, an illustrated sequence of poems responding to a family archive of WWI photographs and letters will be published by Smith/Doorstop in April 2019, and When the Tree Falls, Jane's second collection, will be published by Bloodaxe Books in September 2019.

The American poet Louise Glück famously wrote that “We look at the world once, in childhood. The rest is memory.” Perhaps this is why so many poets have been deeply influenced by their childhood. “They tuck you up, your mum and dad” (Adrian Mitchell’s softer take on Philp Larkin’s original line) is the title for this series of conversations featuring some of Ireland's finest writers and poets as they reflect on the often complex parent / child relationship through memoir and poetry.
